Presentation time: 10:00-11:30, Thursday, July 8, 2021

Address: 1710, Building B, Jadeite Scientific Research Building

Speaker: Associate Professor Xu Bin

Location: University of Science and Technology of China

Organized by: School of Mathematics

Introduction to the Report:

Cone spherical metrics are constant curvature +1 conformal metrics with finitely many cone singularities on compact Riemann surfaces. Their existence has been an open problem since 1980s. The speaker will talk about the recent progresses on this problem joint with Qing Chen, Yu Feng, Bo Li, Lingguang Li, Yiqian Shi, Jijian Song and Yingyi Wu.

Brief Introduction of speaker:

Bin Xu is an associate professor at the University of Science and Technology of China. He received his ph. D. degree from The University of Tokyo in 2003. He has done post-doctoral research at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins University, and Nankai University. He has been teaching at University of Science and Technology of China since 2005. He has presided over the youth Fund and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and participated in many national Natural Science Foundation projects. His research field is special geometry structure related to Riemann surface, and toda system, which is the intersection of integrable system and differential geometry, is now his research interest. He has published over 20 papers in Adv.Math, Selecta Math., Israel J. Math., IMRN., Proc.AMS., Chinese Ann. Math. Ser.b.
